This is my favorite sit down breakfast place in truckee. If you are a Bloody Mary person get the grilled cheese Bloody Mary! It’s basically a meal. All the food options here are good! Best restaurant in downtown truckee for breakfast/lunch. Try and find the oldest signature on the wall while you wait for food! Yesterday, we came in as a party of six with a baby, and unfortunately, we did not have the greatest experience. Half of our party arrived first and put our name down for a table for six with a baby. When the other half of our party arrived, they unknowingly put their name down as well for the same party. Once we realized what had happened, we asked if it would be possible to combine two tables so that everyone could sit together. We were told that if we were one party, we would be seated at one table. The biggest issue was that all seven of us, including the baby in a high chair, were seated at one small circular metal table outside. There was simply not enough space for everyone to eat comfortably. Before we even received our food, we had to move the condiment baskets, jams, and pitcher filled with silverware and napkins onto the ground because we could not even fit all of our drinks and water pitchers on the table.
When we asked if anything could be done, we were told that we could not use the neighboring table because there were many other parties waiting to be seated. We understood that the restaurant was busy, but the lack of space made it extremely difficult for our party. Once our food arrived, some of us actually had to hold our plates on our laps to eat because there was nowhere else to put them. My fiancé and I even decided to split an entrée in an attempt to make things easier, although it was ultimately brought out on two separate plates, which we appreciated but unfortunately defeated the purpose of trying to conserve space. On top of that, part of our toddler’s meal, which I believe was a happy-face pancake, was missing and did not arrive until everyone else had finished eating. By that point, the toddler was understandably fussy and refused to eat. Overall, the main host/server who initially seated us was not very helpful and did not seem to understand the difficulty of our situation, particularly with a baby and toddler at the table. Having the child’s food arrive so much later than everyone else’s only made an already difficult situation more frustrating. We understand that restaurants can get busy, but we were disappointed by how the situation was handled and by how uncomfortable it was for our entire party to eat.

Cool diner, great breakfast items.  I had a huge omelet stuffed with bacon and mushrooms and my partner had some pancake plate that tasted like pure buttery goodness.  Our server was friendly and really helpful.

Eggs ordered medium over had runny whites and were undercooked. Biscuits and gravy were average, a little bland and the biscuit didn’t taste fresh. Bacon was very thin and salty. Had to ask for a refill for water and coffee. Our server seemed a little out of it. The thin bench seating was uncomfortable. Did not live up to the hype.

Memories of a really good pancake breakfast!! Coffee is superb as well as the local culture!!!
